We´ve been called for a service to a Grotto in North Kerry, where we recently installed a PV off-grid Lighting system. The system didn´t work for the last few days and we went down to check the reason for the malfunction.
We spotted very soon an easy physical reason which brought the light down. The housing for the battery and control units is made of concrete. After we finished our installation, the parish installed a tight hatch on the housing for security purposes. This causes unfortunately plenty of condensation on the inside and condensing water was dripping down from the ceiling straight on our control panel. The timer switch went off but fortunately returned after a complete dismantling and drying process.
The system is back in operation since last Friday. To prevent further condensation problems, the inside of the housing will get a slight insulation soon.
